That’s a "big fish"! Our current best basketball team and 8 times Slovak league champion Good Angels Košice acquired (just before the end of basic group of EuroLeague FIBA) Czech guard Hana Horáková who will help our team already in the Wednesday’s game against french team Lattes Montpellier.
"Signing of Hana Horáková has been made partly coincidentally, but on the other side, the very good relationship with the management of the Russian club UMMC Jekaterinburg, where Hanka played this season helped,” said about the new acquisition general manger of Good Angels Daniel Jendrichovský. "When Bernadett Németh left our club, we found out that we lack experienced player on her post, but this solution is from the category we have never dreamt of.”
After two trainings, Hana Horaková is going to take part in her premiere game in Košice’s shirt on Wednesday and she really looks forward to it. "I can play and that’s the most important for me now. The change didn’t surprise me, because I got the approval from UMMC management about finding a new club. Russian club also helped me. I hope that despite the lack of time we can be well tuned together with Good Angels on the court.”
"We could took advantage of the fact, that Hanka didn’t play regularly for Jekaterinburg, because there were more foreigner that is allowed by the rules of the Russian Super-league,” specified Daniel Jendrichovský and his words were more clarified by the player herself. "At the beginning of current season I broke radiocarpal joint and during my convalescence club found a foreign substitute on my post. After recovery I got very little space on the court so my desire to leave the the club grew steadily."
We don’t have to introduce the 32 years old basketball player very much. If yes, it is necessary to start with her greatest success - she won the silver medal from the last world championship in 2010. Hana Horáková attended the championship hosted by Czech republic and was the greatest individuality within Czech national team and her performance catapulted her to MVP trophy.
World championship wasn’t for Hana Horáková just the perfect season ending, in which she also reached with her team (Frisco SIKA) quarterfinal, subsequently she made her first FIBA EuroLeague all stars appearance and at the end of the season, for the first time Hana accepted the foreign contract, when she signed with Turkish "giant” Fenerbahce Istanbul.
She stayed the season 2010/2011 on Europe-Asian borderline. During mentioned season she reached final eight and also participated on FIBA EuroLeague all stars game. She left the Bosporus before the start of current season, but Hana remained faithful to Europe-Asian borderline, because her steps led to eastern part of Ural mountain range to fifth greatest city of the Russian federation – Jekaterinburg.
Russian champion from Jekaterinburg just loaned Hana Horáková to Good Angels. "Contract is very clear in that way - Hanka will be part of our team until the end of current season, under the condition, that her services won’t be needed in Jekterinburg. Russian side had one more requirement – in case of the mutual match of both clubs in play off, Hanka will not play,” explained the detail of the whole transaction.
It is important to add, that to Košice is coming the winner of 2005 Europe championship, owner of silver medal from 2003 Europe championship, the best basketball player awarded in 2010, FIBA EuroLeague winner from 2006 (with Brno), 9 times Czech champion from 2000 to 2009 and 2 x best Czech women basketball player (2003 and 2004). Hana Horáková (180 cm tall guard) could utilize all her trophies and awards in young team Good Angels Košice.
"I hope that Hanka and our perspective young player Miljana Bojovič would be able to create an attacking duo, while Hanka is able to play on shooting guard, so both of them will find their place on the court. Hanka’s great experience and game awareness are invaluable to our team. Furthermore, Hanka Horáková is a winning type of the player and I hope, that her new teammates will do everything to extend current season,” these are expectations stated by Daniel Jendrichovský.
On the other side, Hana Horáková wishes the words of general manager of Good Angels Košice come true. "It would be very nice to extend this EuroLeague season by games of the final tournament. Another reason in my decision was that my very good friend Zuzka Žirková is a part of the team and if we could play together in current season, I would be very glad,” concluded the newest face in Good Angels Hana Horáková.
